Camp Star

The Upper Peninsula Children’s Bereavement Network CAMP STAR will provide a relaxed and safe setting for campers to explore their feelings and offer hope to children who have experienced a loss through death.

Our goal is to help grieving children realize that they are not alone, and that in life, there is hope.

What is CAMP STAR?

CAMP STAR is a bereavment camp designed for children ages 8-16 who have experienced death of a parent, friend or loved one. It is sponsored by the Upper Peninsula Children’s Bereavement Network. It is a weekend long camp filled with traditional, fun, camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support.

All camp activities are facilitated by caring, trained professionals and volunteers. Each camper is assigned a Teen Buddy, who is a specially trained mentor to provide one-on-one companionship throughout the weekend. Camp Buddies are young adults ages 18 to 25.
