In February 2025, one of our dedicated hospice volunteers (who wishes to remain anonymous until they return to the USA) embarked on an inspiring journey, walking 415 kilometers on the famous Camino de Santiago, to raise funds and awareness for Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice. This incredible trek is not just a personal challenge but a tribute to the compassionate care and support our hospice provides to individuals and families during life’s most challenging moments.

What is the Camino de Santiago?

The Camino de Santiago is a historic collection of pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of Saint James in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

As Europe's oldest, most traveled, and most famous pilgrimage path, it attracts people from all over the world who walk for spiritual, cultural, and personal reasons.

The journey offers reflection, challenge, and transformation.

The Camino is celebrated for its stunning landscapes, deep history, and the strong sense of community it creates among those who walk its path.

Why This Journey Matters

By walking the Camino, our volunteer successfully honored the memory of loved ones and the caregivers who make a profound difference every day at Lake Superior Hospice. Your support will help ensure that our hospice continues to offer critical services like pain management, emotional support, and end-of-life care to those in need.

How You Can Help

Join us in this meaningful journey by donating to our cause. Every contribution, big or small, makes a lasting impact on the lives of patients and their families. Together, we can walk this path of compassion and make a real difference.

Our volunteer walked the 260 miles of the Camino de Santiago in February 2025! We invite you to make a donation representing each mile walked. Your donation will directly benefit patients and families through our patient care fund and help us continue providing compassionate care to those in need.

How It Works:

  • Choose the number of miles you’d like to support (Ex: 20 miles at $20, 50 miles at $50 or all 260 miles at $260)
  • Donate online
  • Your contribution will help fund vital services like medications, durable medical equipment, emotional support, and end-of-life assistance for patients and families at our hospice.
  • Updates from the trip are located on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Please feel free to include a name if you would like to honor or remember someone as part of the walk. Names will be sent to our volunteer throughout the journey and they will be honored at the conclusion of the walk.

Together, we can walk the path of compassion, mile by mile. Thank you for your commitment to making a difference!

*All donors will also be invited to a special presentation after the walk in April (Date TBA) at Drifa Brewing in Marquette where photos and stories will be shared about the trip!
